I heard a very interesting conversation about Rule of Law last night between Justice Marc Perrin de Brichambaut and Justice Ruth McGregor.
Justice Brichambaut is a French career judge and diplomat. On 10 December 2014 he was elected a judge to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Justice McGregor is a former justice of the Arizona Supreme Court.
They discussed many interesting principals of law where the rule of law might be interpreted differently in US and Europe. Also they shared where the two have the same interpretations of rule of law. They explored ways to mitigate differences to benefit a more fluid relationship. In this world of globalization with shared risks, this partnership is more important than ever.
As a Program Chair of Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations I am proud to have been involved in organizing such a stimulating event.
